MEET RYAN WHITE

Ryan is married to his wife Kate White and they have three children. Ryan has been practicing law since 2006. He is admitted to the West Virginia Bar, the Southern District of West Virginia, the Northern District of West Virginia and the United States 4th Circuit. Ryan clerked for the Honorable Judge Joseph Robert Goodwin of the Southern District of West Virginia in 2005-2006. Ryan started working at Jackson Kelly in 2006 in its public finance department until 2012. Ryan formed White Law Offices, PLLC with his father in 2012 where he currently practices with his father, Steve White and Mark Matkovich, helping clients throughout the state of West Virginia. Ryan also served as counsel to the West Virginia Senate Finance Committee and Economic Development Committees during the 2009, 2010, and 2011 legislative sessions. Ryan has a broad range of experience in law including public finance, property, municipal, corporate, administrative law, litigation, tax, utility and non-profit law. Ryan was named a West Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Star by Law & Politics in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2018 in the Bonds/Government Finance practice area. Super Lawyers of WV rated Ryan as the top-rated Government Finance Attorney in Charleston, WV for 2018. Ryan has a BV Peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Ryan also was selected as a member of the 2016 “40 under 40”. Ryan also served on the State of West Virginia Natural Gas task Force from 2012 through 2013.

 

Ryan was elected to the board of education for three four-year terms starting in 2014 and was the top vote getter in all three elections. Ryan resigned to run for the Intermediate Court of Appeals in January of 2024. While serving on the Board, Ryan was elected President of the School Board in July 2018 through June 2020. Ryan also was elected the president of the School Board Association of West Virginia in 2020. Ryan served on the RESA 3 Advisory Board from 2014 until 2018.  

 

Ryan graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Political Science in 2001 and graduated order of the coif from the West Virginia University College of Law with a J.D. in 2005. Ryan has been very active in the West Virginia Community serving as Co-Chair of Generation Charleston, President of the East End Community Association, as a board member of Kids Chance of West Virginia and is currently a past President of the Childhood Language Center. Ryan and his family attend Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston.
